Thanking

Many times in the Bible people stayed with Jesus for days. I wonder if His voice was the voice of God to each person heard in a deep personal way. Did they heard a whisper filling their hearts with truth. “You are loved, you are treasured, you are a masterpiece.”

3 And if I send them away to their homes hungry, they will be feeble through exhaustion and faint along the road; and some of them have come a long way.
4 And His disciples replied to Him, How can anyone fill and satisfy [these people] with loaves of bread here in [this] desolate and uninhabited region?
5 And He asked them, How many loaves have you? They said, Seven.
6 And He commanded the multitude to recline upon the ground, and He [then] took the seven loaves [of bread] and, having given thanks, He broke them and kept on giving them to His disciples to put before [the people], and they placed them before the crowd.
7 And they had a few small fish; and when He had [a]praised God and given thanks and asked Him to bless them [to their use], He ordered that these also should be set before [them].
8 And they ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven [[b]large provision] baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
9 And there were about 4,000 people. And He dismissed them” (Mark 8 AMPC)

This passage is so rich and there is so much that explains the character of Jesus. One thing that stuck out to me is that Jesus gives thanks to God before the miracle happens. I had to stop and think about this. When I am praying for God to make a miracle, do I pray like I know it’s going to happen? Do I thank God in advance? Wrapped up in my anxiety and begging God, I don’t think I thank Him for what He is about to do. I praise Him for who He is and I thank Him for what He has done, but praying a prayer of thanks before the prayer in my heart is answer is not a habit of mine. However because Jesus did, I am starting to thank God before He makes a miracle. Starting to do this is leading to an unexpected gift- His peace.

Please join me, may we thank God in advance for winning someone’s heart to Him. May we thank God in advance for the ministry that we are praying for or the heartache of a friend. May we thank God that our children will love Him, even if they are questioning Him. May we rest in His love and goodness thanking Him.
May we thank God and may we watch Him do miracles.
