Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them.  Matthew 6:1

We are such “platform” people that we often overlook opportunities to have an impact for God’s kingdom. Charles Stanley speaks of two people who greatly influenced his life.

The first was his Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Crane. She has such a gentle and caring spirit that he was impressed to believe that church was a good place. She made him want to be in God’s house. He says that 70 years later, he still remembers her smile.

The other example was his grandfather. Strangely, there was not a lot of time spent with him, but one week in particular during one summer of his childhood, stands out for the lessons taught and learned. Stanley writes, “He listened to me and shared with me several principles by which to live, and I remember them still. The lessons he taught me sitting on his back porch come out in almost every sermon I write. So his wisdom has blessed millions of people. He served God’s purpose.”

Isn’t that amazing? Neither of these people would be considered influential, and in our American way of grading who’s important and who isn’t, these two would not make the list. Honorable mention, maybe? How rebuking!

Don’t underestimate what others are doing—or even what you are doing for the Lord in your life. You may not think what you do is important, but it is. What you say to people, how you treat others, the words you use in good times and bad, even a smile—all of them reveal God to those watching. You are bearing witness—and you never know the ripples these small gestures will generate.

If you live daily asking God to live through you, things will happen in your life that you never expected, even years later. God will bless you beyond measure.

*How is God serving His purpose through your life?

Lord, I choose Your way. Accomplish Your will in me, whatever it is, wherever it takes me. May I bless You with my life and bless others and may I bring glory to Your name. In Your precious name I pray, Amen.
