“Who is Wise? Let him observe and heed these things; and thoughtfully consider the lovingkindness of the Lord.” (Psalms 107:43 AMP)
Lovingkindness. This word is soothing. It’s like staring at the ocean waves as the wind brushes our face or sitting in our favorite chair with a cup of coffee and journal on a rainy day. This is how God feels about us! We know that in our mind, and yet something mysterious happens when we capture the truth of His lovingkindness in our souls.
Lovingkindness. As I sit in this word, I’m very aware this is God’s posture towards me, and yet it’s hard to fully accept.
God is not only the Source and Essence of love, He also expresses His love kindly. His lovingkindness quiets the voice that tells me I should do more, be more, even heal quicker. His lovingkindness fills the canyon in each soul with the heart of Jesus. Lovingkindness does not motivate through guilt, shame, or judgment. His Lovingkindness looks deep into our hearts where He sees, He knows, He heals, He creates hope and restoration. Self-condemnation, stress, and anxiety conflict with His loving voice. His Voice brings with it peace, joy, and love!
My brain would always like to remind me of the things I’m not. The Voice of lovingkindness reminds me to filter my thoughts of myself through His heart of love.
May His lovingkindness capture us today, creating a sweet and constant awareness that we are treasured by the Heart of God.
Self Reflection:
- How do I see God?
- Do I think God speaks to me with lovingkindness?
- Why or why not?
- If I sit in the thought that God has lovingkindness for me would my thoughts about me change?
- Can I choose to embrace and share the lovingkindness of Jesus?
Prayer:
Help me to see You as a God that has lovingkindness for me. May Your Lovingkindness change me. Let your transforming love fill my heart so completely that it spills out on the world around me. In Jesus’ name.
