“Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]” (Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP)
If you have not already made a list of your needs, desires, hopes, and dreams, I encourage you to do so. Every school year, I make a list. Some items on my list get carried over to the next year. Some years I find new hopes and dreams to add. Many times, I see goals and desires fulfilled from the previous years.
Each day, I find myself entrusting this list—my worries, hopes, dreams, and other people’s needs—to Him. It is amazing to look at the end of one year and see what God has done with those things dear to your heart.
“(Insert your hopes and dreams), I commit you to God [I deposit you in His charge, entrusting you to His protection and care]. And I commend you to the Word of His grace [to the commands and counsels and promises of His unmerited favor]. It is able to build you up and to give you [your rightful] inheritance among all God’s set-apart ones (those consecrated, purified, and transformed of soul).” (Acts 20:32 AMPC)
By surrendering these desires daily and giving them to God, He in exchange gives His peace.
Self Reflection:
- What needs and desires are on my list?
- What is a hope or dream God has placed in my heart?
- What do I hope for someone that I love?
- Is it difficult to entrust? Why?
Prayer:
God, I give You my year—my hopes, dreams, needs, and worries. I give You me. I invite Jesus in to every area of my life and ask Him to do great things in my heart and the heart of those I love. In His name.
